LushLunes: Cherish The Fruits Of Your Labor
As you know LushLunes is my Latin twist on #MotivationMonday. Well, there's a photo on Instagram from Amy Stanford that inspired this post and truly says it all. It depicts the salvaging of a "peach tree [that was] bent in half because of its harvest." The harvest was abundant.
Think about that. Isn't that such a metaphor for life? How much we bend over backward to accomplish something we really want... but do we take the time to enjoy it? Or do we just repair and prepare for the next run?
This brings me to your LushLunes Mission:
- Have you taken a moment to acknowledge your hard work?
- Have you given yourself a reward for your labor?
Make it your goal to answer these questions in the affirmative, acknowledge your success and reward yourself with some "me time."
You know I will!!! Happy LushLunes!

Instagram: My Life In Pictures
It all looks very fabulous and glam - for that I am sincerely thankful. But there's always a trade off. Footage doesn't get edited. Re-writes don't get done. Acting class is missed. Sleep is lacking. Too much coffee is had. The body and soul are not nourished. But I have to make time to walk outside of my home office and meet people. It's just as important. And so when I do that, flashing lights go off from my iPhone camera as evidence.
Going out, making cameo appearances, and networking feels a little like hard work. The makeup, the outfits, the hair, the photos and the business cards: that's all really fun! It's getting up the next day to do it all again that's the hard part.

This week I have been unable to keep up my daily exercise routine. The exercise was replaced with a total of about 4 cuba libres within the past five days (I'm not much of a drinker), meeting up with with my Pushing Dreams cast mates, photos from the NYILFF and from my evening in character as one of the Housewives of Washington Heights at Gracie Mansion.

Falling Into Films at @NYILFF
Tuesday was the opening night of "Filly Brown" at the New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF) and GM invited me to attend the premiere!
I left the theater crying. Why? Because I have a tendency to fall into films. I suspend disbelief and embrace the experience. "Filly Brown" is certainly a film - and experience - worth falling into.
check out my pics!

BlogHer12: A LATISM Sponsored Experience
As you know from all of my posts, BlogHer is one of my favorite conferences. I'm so honored that this year I was sponsored by my favorite organization: Latinos In Social Media. This is a proud LATISM NY Chapter volunteer, I can tell you that!
The Latina presence at BlogHer is growing in numbers - so many awesome Blogueras were panelists. Other inspiring Blogueras took the main stage at Voices of the Year and the Fashion show! And of course, the Social Fiesta was a hit!
BlogHer was made all the more special because Sorayu and Che came along with me. They got to meet some people that I truly admire and consider to be my friends. Their support in all of my creative endeavors makes a huge difference.
With all of that said, I hope you enjoy my BlogHer'12 weekend in pictures. Thank you once again LATISM!

An Open Letter To Mi Abuelita Before Her 80th Birthday
Querida
Mamita,
There’s a little something I wanted to share before
I see you on your 80th Birthday (Thursday August 9th).
| my letter to Mamita. |
During the times I’ve spent with you, I’ve seen
you cater to Papito… how you made
sure he was well fed, tended to him when he was ill, and held his hand while
watching TV. I watched you show love, and I learned from you the many ways we
express that love with our family.
When it was just us girls in Puerto
Rico over the summers, I remember visiting relatives and watching
you – the epitome of class, ever a lady, a Puertorriqueña raised in a different era with the
most impeccable manners… I hope you know I took a cue from you during my
pageant days.

LushLunes: Don't Wait to Start Living
We've all read the quotes that ask what you would do if you knew you could not fail. Or if this were your last day on this planet, how you would spend it. But have you answered those questions?
I already know how I would answer these questions. My life is being lived as an answer to them. I am not waiting for someday. And I hope if you read this blog, it's because it motivates you to LIVE NOW and not for some future date that may never come.
So how do YOU answer these questions? How can you honestly give an answer today?
That's your LushLunes mission - Answer these questions truthfully, from your gut. Say it out loud or scribble it down:
- If I knew I could not fail I would_____________.
- If knew this were my last day on Earth, I would_____________.

Preparing For My 4 Year Blogoversary
In fifty (50) days HerDeepThoughts will turn 4 years old. FOUR!!!! That's forever in blog years!
My lil' ol' blog has come a long way and I'm so very proud I can count on you, my deep thinkers, to keep coming back for more, despite how busy I've become.
Last year, in honor of my third blogoversary, I gave away a Coach laptop sleeve. How can I top that? How do I honor four years? How can I make it rock?
Well, here's where you come in. Give me some ideas! This will help me figure out the best way to blow out the candles this year, and make it a year to remember.
Leave a comment and let me know if you want another giveaway, or if a sentimental post will ignite your deep thinking for a day.
I look forward to hearing from ya!

LATISM Opens Doors To BLOGHER
LATISM has granted me a sponsorship to BlogHer12! I'm so excited to go again... three years in a row!
Unfortunately my BlogHer partner in crime SuperBloguera will not be with me this year (she will be in spirit as I pray for her speedy recovery. Besides, I will give her all the juicy bochinche afterward so she doesn't miss a beat).
I'm excited about this opportunity LATISM has given me. As women and as Latinas, we strive to have our voices heard... and it is just as important for Latinas to BE SEEN AS AN ACTIVE PRESENCE at blogging conferences.
I am so very grateful to LATISM for making this their priority with all of the wonderful sponsorships they have provided.
I'll will not only make my presence KNOWN, but I'll get to see some of my fave blogueras, learn something about bringing my blog to the next level, get to know some brands, and hopefully tote some cool swag home.
Are you a BlogHer Veteran? What do you hope to gain this year? I hope to see you at the conference, and certainly at the LATISM Social Fiesta!
