Stress is like a pebble thrown into a pond. It causes a ripple that has the capacity to spreads outward... impacting so many facets of our being. You wouldn't think a little pebble could do that, muddy up a perfectly calm and serene surface, but it can, if we have invited to impact us in that way.
This is why I'm such an advocate for meditation; It helps me in so many ways, especially when it comes to stress. It helps me reduce the size and impact of the ripples... it helps me to see it for what it is: just a little pebble. A pebble that really doesn't belong.
When we are mindful and focus on our breath, the issues we stress over dissipate. Even if it's just for a moment, sometimes that's all we need to think clearly through any obstacle.
But mindfulness is not easy. In between breaths we grow inpatient and think of "more important things" to do. But calming down and gathering ourselves is important.
And making ourselves a priority is what LushLunes all about. So here's your mission:
Today if a stressful moment hits or if you just want to give yourself a moment of calm, (even if it's just before you sleep tonight), close your eyes and breathe. Quiet your mind (the endless inner chatter) and focus on two things: inhale. exhale.
Be in the moment, whether you're sitting or lying down, give it 5 minutes, 15 minutes, whatever you can handle. The longer you go, in those minutes you will have gotten rid of the ripples of stress and welcomed back calm and serenity.Wishing you a peaceful pebble-free LushLunes my deep thinkers!
