News Flash: More of the Same, Because You Love it!

my creative image. mine. for realz.
This is just an update on Her Deep Thoughts and the information I was able to gather from my lovely deep thinkers since my survey.

After reviewing my survey results, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It gave me some insight into what I can leave behind on my blog and what I should continue to pursue.

Basically, you, my readers, like my stuff.

*wiping beads of sweat off forehead in relief*

You want more of the topics I'm passionate about, that I write and vlog about, so I will do my best to deliver.

But all in all, you like the content and that sincerely makes me happy.

[insert cartwheel...           HERE.]   So I'm gonna keep riding this train 'til you're sick of me!

What should you expect for the rest of the year?

Be Positive. Get Motivated.

With a new month approaching, a new season, and in the spirit of remembering who we are, what we want, and affirming that we deserve everything our hearts desire, I am sharing with you a free verse poem I wrote to myself when I was twenty four years old.

I don't normally share my poetry here, but if the mood strikes, don't be surprised to see it again.

Hopefully it inspires you to write a love letter to yourself - or, in this case, a poem.  Enjoy.

How Well Do You Treat Yourself? [Part 2]

Starry Night, by Van Gogh
Is it OK to want more? Is it OK to ask for more?

YES!!!!

Who said we weren't entitled? Who said we weren't deserving? Who said? And what authority does this "who" have anyhow?

Asking for more out of this life and for yourself, (if you desire more), is part of treating yourself better.

Keep that inner dialogue clean:

I can.

I want.

I deserve.

HerDeepThoughts 2 Year Blogiversary! [Giveaway]

This little Latina has had a blog for two years. And people have actually been reading it. YOU are these people. THANK YOU, Thank you, thank you.

HerDeepThoughts started as a way for me to just vent - and poke fun at myself [hence the title]. It has since evolved into a blog where I seek to inspire you, my readers, to live your best lives. To remember that you too are important. And to spark the courage to do the things that move your soul. Plus snarky comments, and witty banter.

The only way I can do this is by exposing my soul to show you how I've been doing it, explain in gritty detail how I fall on my ass, and then celebrate by showing you that I pick myself up, wipe off the dust, and keep on moving.

Wordless Wednesday - It's OK To Fake It?

Time Out

Baby has been put in a corner.

I run around from task to task, cappuccino in hand, with my face in my work, a book, my blackberry, my computer screen, my TV and then shoved in my pillow, exhausted.

Face in cell, instead of at the scenery
That is not a way to behave. It's time to shut off the blackberry, the laptop, and the tv. It's time to close the book and put the work away.

There are too many distractions.  I need to be alone with my thoughts for a minute.

I don't need to check my cell every time there's a message. I'm actually not that important. No ones life is in my hands...so messages can wait until later.

Being Latina and Breaking The Mold

This is a photo I took of Ms.Hepburn's portrait displayed in Madrid, Spain
I was recently asked what was the most rewarding part and the most frustrating part of pursuing a career as an actress - as a Latina.

I think the portion of my answer that relates to my frustrations transcends acting.

I can easily be talking about my experience as a Puerto Rican girl in law school, or being the only Latina lawyer in the law firm where I work.

Nevertheless, here's how I answered the question.

The Need To Please (The Vlog)

Sometimes, as women, as Latinas, we need to give ourselves permission to take care of ourselves FIRST. Permission granted.

How well do you treat yourself? [Part 1]

my meditation corner in my walk-in closet
I meditate for ten minutes a day (need a refresher? Click HERE). But lately its been getting longer - like 20 to 30 minutes a day. It's part of the process for me to treat myself better and giving me some ME time; some spiritual time.

It's not easy.

The more I meditate, the harder it gets. In the beginning it was all zen and like, "pssh this is easy." But now that I think I'm really digging, self doubt likes to creep in. It likes to make my meditation a frustrating experience instead of a beautiful one. My ego likes to throw me into yesterday or tomorrow instead of the moment.. and my breathing gets ragged... and my leg starts to itch... and why is it so hot in here... is it almost over?

The Unlikely Adventure of Race McCloud Private Eye |A Play|

Do you want to check out a play for $20 in New York City? I know YOU do!

As a patron of the arts, I like giving my deep thinkers the inside scoop on plays in New York, and is just so happens that a play by Tom Hoefner is opening shortly.

Who's Tom?
This writer, director and teacher was at one time my college frat brother. He so graciously gave me the information and support I needed when I decided to take the first leap into acting (last year!). He also gave me my first audition (at the end of which I did an 80's fist-pump by the subway station). And since he and his family are such great people, I'm very excited to share this information with all of you to show my support.

The Unlikely Adventure of Race McCloud Private Eye is bound to be very funny and I'm sure you're going to have a great time. I myself will be there to show my support (it's only running from September 9, 2010 - September 19, 2010 so make sure to snag a ticket! ).

Creative Women In Social Media (STB Radio Guest Panelist)

Recently, I was part of the "Divine Nine" on Sisterhood The Blog Radio where host Ananda Leeke gathered us for a fabulous conversation on how creative women use the web and social media [need a refresher? click HERE].

Ananda (@anandaleeke) is using her radio show to conduct research on women in social media for her book project Sisterhood the Blog: Soundbytes from the 21st Century Women's Online Revolution (December 2011).

During the “cocktail hour” (which ran nine minutes past the hour - how auspicious!) we answered the following questions:
