Giveaway: Enter to Win a Rascodog ReadyLeash!

Some of you know, and some of you don't... My mom and sister frequently have me pet-sit their dog - a toy poodle. His name is Jax.

My partner Che also has a dog and I usually go with him to walk the cane corso, her name is Baby.
When Che and I walk these dogs, we're usually running outside with the leash in one hand, and a fist full of doggie bags in the other, ready to clean up after our pets.

So when Rascodog asked me to review their product, the ReadyLeash, I was all for it. Anything to make walking the dog a little easier is fine by me.

Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice

What do you get when you put  Nicholas Cage, Alfred Molina, Jay Baruchel, and Toby Kebbell in the same room? You get a fantastic Disney movie.

Who'd a thunk?

Disney's  The Sorcerer's Apprentice, is "an adventure about a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice who were swept to the center of an ancient conflict between good and evil."

What did I think of the film, you ask?

Eat Pray Love ...and Change My Life?

Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia In February 2009, I decided to start a Virtual Book Club on Facebook. It was completely out of character. I guess with my schedule I decided that my friends on FB and I could chat about books even though we didn't have time to meet up in person to do so. The first book suggested was Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. This book fell on my lap at the perfect time in my life.

I read the book when I was at a cross roads in my life. I wasn't happy with my job. The pro-bono work I was doing in Entertainment Law wasn't cutting it. I was lost. I was completely unhappy. And I was drowning myself in work.

Many times, I would cry in my bed, asking God, what do I do? Why am I so unhappy?
Then I opened the page and I felt like I traveled through her spiritual journey with her. Woosh... right into her world, her pain, her confusion, her crusade. I reflected on life with her. I laughed and cried with her. I opened myself up more to yoga and made meditation part of my daily routine.

Her story helped me discover my story.

Where Do You Shop For Jeans?

A few weeks ago I posted some advice on what to look for when buying a pair of jeans.
[Need a refresher? Click here: Jeans Can Be Distressing - The 10 Tip Fix ]

I got some really great comments and questions, like how many jeans do you need, are expensive jeans better, and where do you shop for jeans... which led to this post.

The Sunshine Award

I recently received one blogger award from a fellow blogger, and was totally dumbstruck to receive a second. I was honored with The Sunshine Award by Sara at Saving for Someday  (please stop by her blog and say hello - tell her LaLicenciada sent you!) Thanks chica!

Sara gave me a great compliment upon nominating me:
Her Deep Thoughts – Li is a fabulously smart woman who has this amazing blog that explores the many different things we all think about but may not want to write.
My blog is sans-filter (for the most part)! LOL I love that! As always, thanks for all the positive sentiments Sara.

So what is the Sunshine Award?

You're Going Places Award

I recevied the "You're Going Places Award from NYC Girl at Heart (so head on over and check out her blog). Thanks so much for the award, chica!!! Lo aprecio!

So what are the rules? Upon receving this presitgious award, one must first blog about where they see themselves in ten years, then pay it forward by granting the award to someone else.

I feel like a kid in elementary school about to write an essay... I'm also very nervous because I want to get it right... you know, the law of attraction and be careful what you wish for... LOL But here goes:

Lady Gaga Rocks Madison Square Garden

I got to see Lady f¥¢£ing Gaga in concert B¡✗¢‡es!!! This is how I've been feeling, days after the concert.

So let me set the stage for you...

Flashing.

Lights.

Swirling overblown raw images of the queen monster herself open the show.

Curtains, up...

then vroooooom, the first scene is a broken down car, her flashy dancer friends, and Gaga, trying to get to the Monster Ball.

I'm in heaven.

Jeans Can Be Distressing (The 10 Tip Fix)

I've had a love affair with jeans my entire life. Even when they were banned in my strict all-girls High School, I found a way. Ever the rebel.

Why was I ready to put up the good fight?

Well, jeans are a crucial asset to any woman’s wardrobe! You can use them for almost anything. And believe me, I've probably tried. I cannot live without jeans. In a perfect world, I could wear jeans all the time. Jeans and a t-shirt... with a piƱa colada... hanging out on the beach every night... and looking like a model in a Guess ad... ok, I digress.

Buying jeans can be a defeating process – I’ll try on ten different jeans my size only to find out some sizes run small, some too big, others have pocket placement that do not flatter, then I’m lucky if after all of that I end up with one good pair.

After many agonizing hours at countless stores and several internal (and sometimes external) self-directed pep talks that my ass is not too big, I've assembled ten tips that I consider to be bible when I buy jeans:
