Sex and the City 2

Recently, I was sent the Sex and the City 2 Soundtrack to review the music from the motion picture.

The movie hits theaters May 27th - did you already purchase your midnight ticket like my crazy sister, Buttercup?

Although I haven't gotten my ticket to see Sex and the City 2 yet, I definitely like the soundtrack.

Some songs on this soundtrack are real 'getting-ready-to-go-out' songs... But the majority of the songs on this track are lounge-type songs, the kind of music to listen to over coffee with friends - maybe at 3:00am when you get back from watching the film, you fiends!

HELLO - HOLA the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors

As some of you know, I finally joined HOLA. What is HOLA?

The Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA, a 501(c)(3) group) is an arts service organization founded in 1975 . HOLA strives for an accurate, informed and non-stereotyped portrayal of Hispanic culture, people and heritage in theater, film, television, radio and commercials.

Feel free to go on over to http://hellohola.org/ to learn more.

How did I hear about HOLA? While I was in law school, I came across HOLA when I attended an event for the Hispanic National Bar Association of New York. At that time, I was interested in learning more about Entertainment Law.... and if you read this blog, you know I finally realized I'm actually just interested in the Entertainment part.

Now I'm very excited to be a part of HOLA! Besides being very proactive in my acting career, I like what they stand for:

National Puerto Rican Day Parade & Cultural Pageant - Are You Going?

There are a series of events in May and June leading up to the National Puerto Rican Parade in New York City, so I recommend you check out the site: National Puerto Rican Day Parade, Inc. for information on events that are open to the public.

There is a cultural pageant and a number of events that are much smaller than the parade (and others that are much more exclusive).

The Parade in NYC will be on Sunday, June 13, 2010 starting at 11:00am.

TALES OF THE STALKER

It is not uncommon to hear someone talk about their ex as a “crazy explicative” In fact, most of the time, the short and simple reason they broke up is because (a) one of them went crazy or (b) one of them finally realized the other was crazy. Most of the time however, “crazy,” actually means they argued all the time, were possessive, were cheating, or something on the scale of  "normal," as opposed to insane.

Scene from Silence of the Lambs

But there is something we can learn from the experience of others. There are instances where the Crazy factor cannot be denied. The statement that your Ex is Crazy becomes legitimate when your Ex becomes a stalker.

Here are several instances** of stalking from what appeared to be "normal" people and what you can do to avoid going crazy yourself (along with images from movies that help drive the point home - you're welcome).

I Wave My Flag - Que Bonita Bandera

I wave my flag with great patriotism and devotion. I was not born in Puerto Rico, but my parents were. My mother taught my sister and I to love and cherish its’ beauty and to maintain the values of our rich Puerto Rican culture.

Every year we played on that tierra, swam in that mar, and bathed in that sol, cantando y bailando. Learning about great composers from our little pueblo of Aguadilla and of the great Nationalism we maintain for our beloved Isla.

I wave my flag in an invisible way nowadays, without bandanas or t-shirts or beads (although it was more fun when I have worn those things). I wave my flag by representing my culture with the education I have acquired, with my self respect, and with my love of our music, literature, dance, history and culture.

As I Write My Life, I See Me.

Art. Art has surrounded my universe. Writing. Drawing. Film. All of these things have been a part of me. It just took me a while to see it.

As a child I would draw up a storm. My father painted and sculpted. His art work was in the Brooklyn Museum of Art. What was his nine-to-five? My father was a carpenter, now retired.

I would also write - stories, advertisements for movies I invented (invented, not wrote, I would just write up and draw up the ad for the idea of a soon-to-be-released film in my mind), and poems. My mother was quite a poet. What was her nine-to-five? My mother was a computer engineer and a business entrepreneur (travel agency, real estate, jewelery, interior design, etc) now retired.

And then there was film. My parents loved renting movies and going to the movie theater. As a little girl, I would memorize lines from films.

Mother's Day - One Day Is Not Enough

My mother would always remind my sister and I that we should show the people we love that we appreciate them every day - we shouldn't wait for a holiday to do it.

I do my best to show the people I love that they mean the world to me. I'm a card giver, so I do it with that most often. However, I'll send a text if I haven't seen them in a few weeks, or just tell them that I really love their company when I make the time to hang out. It's in the little things, isn't it?

Whatever little ways I learned to express love, I learned from my mother.

There aren't enough words to express how much I appreciate all my mother has done for me and the example she set for what a strong Puertorriqueña, should be.

I'm sick.

Usually, I post on the weekends, especially when we come upon a new month. However this weekend I got sick. As it turns out I have an upper respiratory infection and bronchitis. See what happens when a perfectly healthy woman takes care of her ailing partner?

LOL I don't like that I got sick. Clorox, Lysol, my manic wiping, washing, and cleaning did not help prevent my illness. Nor did massive doses of Vitamin C or Echinacea. Ay yay yay.

I've got my antibiotics and am trying to get a lot of rest. I look forward to bringing you all up to speed on my deep thoughts once I get out of this hazy sick-face cloud. Thanks for all your positive words!

Hablamos!
