Say It With a Card - UPrinting Giveaway!
I am a card giver. Plain and simple. I have blank thank you cards in my home, I stock up on event-specific cards during what I consider to be the major holidays (Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Christmas/New Years, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Secretary's Day, Mentor Day... ay yay yay so many days), for birthdays and to give a little inspiration or a pick me up to my friends.
I'm just a card giver. I love to say it with words - written words on a perishable piece of paper that you get in the mail, rip open like a present, can hold and crinkle until you are very old and one day look back at it with a smile. I love cards.

Fear - Don't Let It Bite
I'll be the first to admit it - I'm a bit of a dreamer. I've been running head-first toward my dreams for some time now.
But I will admit something when it comes to chasing your dreams, fear will shut you down. It will stop you dead in your tracks and you will look around you to find that you are in the middle of a self-fulflling prophecy.
Some of my biggest fears are that I will not be successful in accomplishing my dreams.

My feeble attempt at "A Week in The Life"
Are you participating in Alie Edwards' A Week in The Life? I think I am.
I'm kind of going by the seat of my pants, and relying on the camera in my cell phone. I'm going to take advantage of some of the free downloads offered on the site, but all in all, I'd like this to be a digital scrapbook.
I'm not sure how that will pan out. I've set aside a little scrap of paper to document my daily musings and routines. I might scan that chicken-scratch and put it in as well. We'll see.
Why am I doing this? Well, everyday happens so fast that I want to make sure that I stop to smell the roses. I also want to learn something about myself - maybe if I look at all the little things I do, I will get to know "me" a little better.
Below are some photos I took / downloaded (since Sunday). They're not great quality but they'll have to do. If you're participating in the #weekinthelife let me know why you're doing it and how you're doing it.
And if you're interested in starting this project, you can DO IT NOW!

My Letter to O (updated 4.23.10)
I just wanted to take a moment and share my madness, embarrass myself, and share with you my deepest darkest secret: I am a Twilight fanatic. How bad is my mania?
Well, since you asked, please feel free to read my letter to Oprah bearing my soul:
Dear O,
I’m a 30 year old woman with no children, so I have no excuse for being a Twilighter / Twihard fan. When Twilight was all the rage, I didn’t get it. I raised my nose at the madness. But my snobbery was pure ignorance.
We're All Dancing On The Same Roof
As women, we need to stick together and show support. It's a struggle out there but the last thing we need is to be clawing at each others throats.
Everyone wants to "make it" in their chosen fields and many of us are drudging along paying our dues, inspired by those we believe are already at the top.
But sometimes, if we believe that someone is in a better position than we are in, well it reminds me of West Side Story... it can turn into a dancing knife fight, instead of a lovely roof-top dance. tsk tsk ladies.
This is my little vlog on why we should learn to dance together instead of against each other. Please feel free to share your "deep thoughts" on the subject. Enjoy!

Inspiration from Dr. Seuss
No matter who you are, people will try to squash your dreams and attempt to reign-in your desires.
Sometimes when others (even those closest to you) are so accustomed to sabotoging their own worlds, they cannot help but try and do the same with yours.
I don't necessarily think it's malice, but I do belive that misery loves company and it will try to make you its companion.

Has the nurturer left the building?
I am not a mom, but I have been known to get into "mommy mode." I nurture. That's what I do. All of my life I have taken care of people.
When my parents split I was fifteen and I told my sister she didn't need a dad because she had me. And that's how the story went for a while. I helped my mom raise Buttercup because mom was working nights and so the three of us became a team.
This "training" or "instinct" or whatever made me quite the nurturer when it came to others. I've always been on top of things, the logical one, the go-to-person. I just had this ability to see things that often go unnoticed and I can juggle quite a lot. As I write this I imagine myself as a waiter confidently holding a pyramid of glasses flowing with champagne. But I think sometimes there's a shortage in the "mommy mode" circuit and the glasses topple.

Everyone needs a little time away
My vacation was truly amazing.
Just WONDERFUL! I spent two hours a day lounging on the beach, tanning and swimming in the crystal clear waters.
I would go running along the shore line or by the beach every evening. I ate healthy meals (mostly red snapper, dorado, and tilapia), but spoiled myself with my morning café con leche and Piña Colada in the afternoons.... yum.
I got to meditate. I spent a lot of time not worrying about work or about my future. I tried to stop myself from going online (which was at times inevitable) and I really just wanted to focus on feeling centered and free of responsibility.

Nominated as a Hot Blogger? *April Update
Here Ye Here Ye, I was friggin' nominated as a candidate for the Hot Blogger Calendar!!! Some fabulous people out there love me, they really love me and I am now officially in the voting pool. WOO HOO! Thanks bunches!
Although I don't really expect to win, I'm going to pimp my blog as much as possible just to say I gave it my best shot [insert fist pump here - 80's style, with the whole jumping in the air at the end of the film]... but I NEED YOUR VOTES!
My dearest readers, the best part about this is that the proceeds from this calendar go to the American Red Cross (they're my faves). And you know I'm all about good causes, right? [click here for a refresher on good causes]
If you think I deserve a shot at being in this calender (and I hope you do) then please...
GIVE THIS LATINA A CHANCE! And feel free to check out the other candidates if you think they should win it! By all means, knock your voting socks off!
