Me Time

Chasing your dreams can be stressful and no one really wants to hear how hard it is while you're in the middle of it. They would rather hear how hard it was, after seeing the sparkly result (I cannot wait for that, by the way... I'm so impatient!).

When we are in the middle of the grind, we should try to remember one thing: we will get through all the struggle and frustration! It also helps when we stick with positive people that encourage us to keep going.

We also have to take the time to center ourselves and reassess (when we can) so we can keep ourselves motivated. To quote a young artist:

"Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side,
it's the climb" - Miley Cyrus

Random Acts of Kindness

What you do in this world you get back in like kind. My mom taught me that except it usually started as a threat: "que tu haces en esta tierra, lo pagarás hasta tres veces" or "lo pagarás con tus hijos," ("what you do in this world you get back three times" or "you will pay with your children").

This was usually a warning against doing bad things. Aside from these threats, there were times she said that the good we do, for the sake of just doing good, does not go unnoticed. For this reason my sister buttercup & I nick-named our home growing up as "the house of second chances." Our home was just a place where someone could start off fresh until they could go back to the normal routine.

Love and Marriage... must they really go together?

Marriage isn't a business proposal. It isn’t a next step. It really isn't a necessity. And most marriages don't last. So why do we want it?
We just keep on trying, again and again, no matter how ill-advised it may be, to recreate Aristophanes' two-headed, eight-limbed figure of seamless human union.*

We want to "be one" with someone, spend our lives loving that person and be loved in return. At the same time we yearn to maintain our freedom, our own identity, and our sense of self. No one ever says, "I really want to sacrifice, compromise and discuss the decisions I make with another person for the rest of my life." And why not? Well, because it rips the romance right out of it when you think of what a huge pain in that ass it will actually be.

Would you want to be in a "Progressive" commercial?

I've been trying my hand at acting for a while. Need a refresher? Click Here. Aside from taking super fun acting classes, I've been an extra in a couple of shows (totally psyched about sharing that with you).  But I am dying to get the skills necessary, then hopefully the opportunities, to land bigger gigs.

I have often thought, "wouldn't it be cool to be in a commercial like the Mac guy or like Flo at Progressive? " Well, an old friend of mine sent me the link to enter the contest to help Flo at Progressive. It might be cool to be in a commercial, even though I am a newbie. Nevertheless, I thought I would send this information to you in case you wanted to enter the contest as well.

How do you enter?
It's easy. Upload your video entry for a chance to win an appearance in a Progressive advertisement - complete with a trip to Los Angeles, CA, for a live tryout with Flo.

"Unleashing Your True Passion." *bareMinerals Get Started Kit* Giveaway!

Bare Escentuals asked me to take a look at how I unleash my true passion and is asking you to do the very same thing!

It's very easy to make up reasons as to why you should put your dreams on hold, or why its silly to shoot for the stars when you're already "all grown up," but without dreams, without something to wish for, hope for, long for, to aspire to, well... then none of the day-to-day struggle would be worth it.

For a long time, I shoved my dreams into a little box, and pushed them into a little corner where they collected dust, until I completely forgot they were there. Then one day, I tripped right over it and fell on my face into a quarter-life crisis. After regaining consciousness,

Puerto Rico - Oh the places I've been...are few, actually.

Anytime someone tells me they're going to Puerto Rico, I get so excited for them! Perhaps you remember my last post... (click here for a refresher)

However, in compiling the places I've been over my life time (every year I travel to Puerto Rico), I have to say, I have yet to discover so many parts of the island. Perhaps some of you can help me with that.

Mostly when I go to Puerto Rico, I go to our beach house in Aguadilla, to relax, bum out on the beach and eat comida criolla (home-grown food). siiiiigggghh. La tierra me llama... (the land is calling me)

But I do venture outside of my beloved town of Aguadilla, to some pretty cool places. Here are some places that I've personallly been to and recommend for those of you traveling to Puerto Rico:
